Motown Theme for Arthur’s Catering 30th Anniversary Party

Arthur’s Catering celebrated 30 years in business – wow!! I was proud and excited to collaborate with their team and serve as the event planner for the celebration. Arthur’s envisioned an event that would make people smile from the minute they walked in the door. They wanted constant energy and excitement where their guests’ senses were bombarded. We decided to focus on delicious menu offerings for tasting, music for listening, and décor and food for seeing.

Choosing a theme…

We settled on a theme of “Heart & Soul”. This was chosen to symbolize the passion Arthur’s has poured into each and every event over the last 30 years. We embraced a Motown theme complete with an incredible band, saxophone player, and of course food stations at every turn. Since the event was the day before Valentine’s Day, we wanted a sleek look that embraced the more dramatic elements of the Motown era. Two enormous posters with the event logos were lit up and flanked a compilation of chandeliers as guests walked in the main room. These posters were retro in feel and highlighted Heart & Soul. Centered in the room we placed a 4-sided food station, with Southern Comfort foods being created right in front of our eyes.

A New Venue to Showcase

We were proud to showcase Arthur’s celebration to nearly 700 guests at Harriett’s Orlando Ballet Centre. This was the newest downtown Orlando Venue and we used the lobby, ballroom and back patios. We had so much fun carrying out the Motown theme, extending details to every inch of the venue. A custom drink aptly named Motown Magic Gin & Ginger was served as guests walked in. An enormous backdrop for the band was made from nearly 500 old vinyl records with our event logos applied to them. Sprawling semi-circular couches we placed for guests to lounge on. And a 20’ step-and-repeat was available for guest photos, complete with custom signs. It was a glorious celebration worthy of one of my most favorite companies ever, Arthur’s Catering. Cheers to 30 more years!!
